Hatha Yoga – our body as a tool.

The first instructions for physical exercises were created with the Hatha Yoga Pradipika, an ancient document from India. Hatha Yoga became the generic term for all yoga styles that were physically oriented. But the focus in Hatha Yoga was not only on asanas (physical exercises), but also on pranayama - the direction of life energy in the body through breathing.

“Ha” stands for the Sun, the female side of the body, and “Tha” stands for the Moon, the male side of the body. These two sides should be brought back into balance through the practice of Hatha Yoga.

In a broader sense, the body is viewed from several layers in which energy blockages and tensions can arise. Through Hatha Yoga practice, these blockages can be released so that life energy (prana) can flow freely again.

When practicing Hatha Yoga, different postures are practiced and connected to the breath. Through regular practice, Hatha Yoga works on multiple body levels.
